NW Style /2 – Black tie

With the holiday party season upon us, we thought we’d devote a NW Style column to the tux, and formal dressing in all its incarnations. These days, there are so many cool options and opportunities to rock out with your formal look.

Velvet blazer with tuxedo trousers. Classic tux jacket with jeans. Tux and open collar. So many options. No formal outfit would be complete without the perfect shoes.

For the classic formal look, nothing beats our Odeon oxford in elegant black patent. For a slightly more daring look, try the Tuxedo Park loafer—an modern take on the penny loafer, with a pony hair vamp. The Tuxedo Park comes in classic black and sapphire, which pairs beautifully with a navy blue tux.

For those who just love a sneaker, and want that perfect pair, we’ve made a limited-edition run of our classic Gotham sneaker in hair-on pony. It’s a black-on-black model, with black upper and black rubber sole that’s comfortable and sleek. It’s great with formalwear, but looks excellent with jeans and a white shirt too.

One last option—boots. The Knickerbocker boot has an elegant toe and formal lines. The black Scotchgrain edition will add an unexpected  layer to your formal outfit, and keep you warm on cold winter nights.knickerbocker_scotch_black_side
